It has been widely agreed that Hayao Miyazaki is a master at his craft when it comes to combining rich animation with thoughtful storylines and similarly imaginative characters. His movies, from Nausicaa, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky, and Princess Mononoke to the recent Howl's Moving Castle are all not only gorgeously rendered in terms of art, but in terms of moviemaking as well. Can this man do no wrong? Not really, but it is impossible to expect everyone of ...

Recently, I had a chance to take a look at the pre-Disney dub of Castle in the Sky. There have been a number of fans who say that this version surpasses the current one, but I didn't have the same response when I saw it. The only points this dub has is that it doesn't have the rescore or the sometimes overdone extra dialogue. On the other hand, though, the script itself is not very smooth and comes across as very stilted, with attempts at humor that sound either contrived or not very well written ...

I saw it yesterday.

The best way to experience the movie is to see the original first and turn off your brain, but even at that it's still a dopey under-plotted effects-driven disaster (though well done the effects are.)

It's pretty much a sequel made for fanboys of the first film's action sequences and for people who love to waste their time jacking to Megan Fox's body.

I also don't know why it was so long. In fact, it's six minutes longer than the original! (Eight for the IMAX ...

Fresh off the net today, the North American cast for Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea has been annoucned thanks to GhibliWorld.com. The talents include Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cate Blanchett, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin, Betty White, Fankie Jonas, Noah Cyrys and Cloris Leachman.

Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are the producers of the dub, and I assume that John Lasseter will be associated with it too seeing that he was executive producer for the dubs of Spirited Away and Howl's.

Good news: Tomorrow's Christmas!!

Bad news: Disney has sent us a rotten Christmas present.

Disney has decided to step out of producing Voyage of the Dawn Treader because of "budgetary and logical reasons", so Walden Media are now searching for a new backer for the third film, assumingly 20th Century Fox might be the one's who will pick it up cause they are desperate, and I mean, DESPERATE for big bucks after the failures and under-performances of ...

This is another Anime show I recommend to Eric (Animated93) aside from Magic Knight Rayearth. Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water is about this girl who holds a jewel called the Blue Water and her friend is Jean, a young French inventor. They both set out a journey to know her origins but by each episode, a mystery unfolds and it can get very surprising.

Here's one bit of trivia: This was originally a Miyasaki project but things weren't working out so he handed the concept to Hideaki Anno who ...

For the past few months or so, I had an interest in doing a parody to "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" only it being a Studio Ghibli edition.

Now what version of the story am I parodying? The parody follows all 3 source materials. The book, the 2005 film as well as the 1971 film..

Now the story to the parody follows the book very closely in the last two acts of the story. However the first ...

Seriously, it isn't even out yet neither have any of us seen it, and there's rabid fangirls who are just getting inpatient for a piece of Robert Pattinson's looks.

Not only this, but there are people who are, literally, trying to die or just dying for Pattinson. there's people passing out, there's people clawing their way for tickets, there's ...

Now, this Anime is well, it's really underrated as it's really a great Anime show. It seems to me, all they really care about is making sure that the characters look EXACTLY like their cartoon counterparts.

The Omen--No I'm not talking about the remake or the sequels, but the original one as shot by Richard Donner. This superbly scary story about a couple who unknowingly adopts a child from hell (literally) is amplified by Jerry Goldsmith's haunting score. Some of my favorite scenes include the moment ...

There are a lot of Anime fans who despise dubbed Anime for whatever reason, and unfortunately there seem to be a majority of them in the Ghibli fandom. Despite all the resources and talented names commissioned to dub the movies, there are those who think they are all terrible. Which is totally unfortunate, because, frankly, the Ghibli dubs are some of the finest English tracks I've ever heard in years. It's true that some are better than others, but none of these dubs are awful in any way. When ...

It's not the big disaster everyone (including I) was expecting, it's okay, It's just not very compelling and there's not much sympathy for Chloe for me, although I did like El Diablo (voiced surprisingly by Ed James Olmos) and I liked a short scene where Chloe's friends back in Beverly Hills, in the middle of her adventures in Mexico, are having a birthday party with dogs on slip-n-slides and jumping in swimming pools and stuff ...

The plot was a confusing trainwreck, there's no 'chemistry' between LaBeouf and Monaghan, and the action scenes were edited and shot like if a guy with one arm and hand got a hold of the camera and Edward Scissorhands (who would be on drugs) cut the movie. Not to mention 70% of the movie was pure destruction and explosions and stuff like that.

Back as a kid I used to be a huge nerd for Rugrats, Digimon, and Angela Anaconda, now today that's just a part of my past and today in my watching list, it's mainly adult comedies. Which are South Park, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, Wonder Showzen, American Dad, TV Funhouse, and Family Guy. Yeah I know, as much as I hate Family Guy's newer seasons, I just can't help but be a part of the crowd.

Hey everyone! This is YTPGod here! And this is just going to be a very short interactive thing I'm postin' up here. You can come up with your own top 5 best of Summer 2008 list, and mine's listed down below. Feel free to put it out as a top 5, worst 5, alphabetically, release date, whatever.

YTPGod's Best of Summer 2008: (in alphabetical order)

The Dark Knight

Yeah, of course I got to put in The Dark Knight. What could be said about the film? Heath Ledger's performance, the cool action ...

Call me October. I used to go by Love, but that's not in this username, so now I'm going be October.

I kind of know Animated93, but now that this is a different site I'm going to have to find another nickname for him. I'm a big fan of his animated musicals, and I'm really enjoying Across the Universe. I'm loving Anya as Sadie, but I wish you had used Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas for Prudence. I just think it would fit. I like your choice, though, and I like how she's from the ...

July Movie Reviews

Hey guys, this is YTPGod here. I was planning to do the July / August movie reviews on YouTube, but like Animated93, I gave up on doing July and August cause it was hard to come up with thoughts on The Dark Knight while many people are saying the same opinion though on the previous movie review show I survived reviewing WALL-E. So I thought with the Animated93 Fourms up, I'd thought i'd do my movie reviews on here (not including Starscream at the Movies) cause it was easier for me to write my ...

I've just seen "Tropic Thunder" this week, and to put it short, it was pretty good. The comedy was great, the action scenes were fun, and the "The Fattys" and "Simple Jack" scenes almost put me to tears.

Though I felt Robert Downey Jr. was great, I just find his accent to be hard to understand. I think it's supposed to be not understandable, but whatever, I was just more focused in the Hollywood parodies and the goofy adventure these guys were put in.

So ...

If anyone has seen the movie Revenge of the Nerds, you can discuss it here. And here is my review of the film.

Anyway, the first film in my series of reviews is what I believe to be is a Cult Classic film called Revenge of the Nerds. Now for those who don't know the film, Revenge of the Nerds is about two nerds named Louis and Gilbert, who set off in their greatest adventure: College.

Yes, college. But what's college without fraternities? Of course, they join the Nerd fraternity called ...

I like all kinds of movies and tv shows except for Romance, Disney, and soap operas. But my two most favorite genres are Horror and Anime, okay Anime techinically is part of the Animation genre but still. I recently got into Macross 7 and I'm still hoping to find a DVD copy of the movie Shocker.
