Hey everyone! This is YTPGod here! And this is just going to be a very short interactive thing I'm postin' up here. You can come up with your own top 5 best of Summer 2008 list, and mine's listed down below. Feel free to put it out as a top 5, worst 5, alphabetically, release date, whatever.
YTPGod's Best of Summer 2008: (in alphabetical order)
The Dark KnightYeah, of course I got to put in The Dark Knight. What could be said about the film? Heath Ledger's performance, the cool action sequences, the tension and suspense (I literally was in chills when Harvey Dent takes a kid hostage the first time I saw it,) Well I said most of it. So overall, why do I need to say this crap?
Hellboy II: The Golden ArmyAfter
Pan's Labyrinth, Del Toro is about to go into an awesome streak, and this is a good sign. If you seen my review on the "July Movie Reviews" topic, it's too late to describe my feelings, but i'll just put it simple for those who didn't read it: "Domesticated demons kick derrière!"
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullThere were some mixed opinions from the fans, but it was a goofy and fun adventure movie, not to mention I love Cate Blanchett's performance as Irina Spalko. After the movie came out, I talked with people who said "Indy IV was stupid and too goofy," well it's supposed to be goofy, it's based on the cheesy western serials from the 40's just as "Star Wars" was based on Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers.
Speed RacerNow, this movie gotten mixed reviews (mostly negative) and it pulled a "Lair" at the box office (If you forgotten about the game, "Lair" is a dragon-riding action game for the PS3), but I loved it, Though I thought the story was pretty predictable, I thought it was colorfully beautiful, the treatment from cartoon to live-action is right on, the comedy with the kid and the monkey are surprisingly watchable, ton of things are just fit into place. It's a shame that Warner Bros. isn't giving it the DVD / Blu-Ray release it deserves.
WALL-EAs with
The Dark Knight, there's too much of an universal acclaim to review it, and I already gave a review on
WALL-E on my "June Movie Reviews" video on YouTube. But overall, I just can't stay mad at the cute lil' robot, his love interest, and the little microbe obliterator.
