Good news and bad news.
Good news: Tomorrow's Christmas!!
Bad news: Disney has sent us a rotten Christmas present.
Disney has decided to step out of producing
Voyage of the Dawn Treader because of "budgetary and logical reasons", so Walden Media are now searching for a new backer for the third film, assumingly 20th Century Fox might be the one's who will pick it up cause they are desperate, and I mean, DESPERATE for big bucks after the failures and under-performances of
The X-Files 2,
Max Payne,
Babylon A.D.,
City of Ember (another Walden production), and recently
Australia and
The Day the Earth Stood Still (which is being estimated to step out of the top 10 this weekend.)
The most evident reason for this was that
The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe became one of Disney's highest grossing films ever and even slightly stepping over
Goblet of Fire with it's domestic grosses, while it's sequel
Prince Caspian was a surprising failure only getting half of the original's domestic earnings thanks to "same month competition" with Downey Jr. in a iron suit, Ford cracking the whip a fourth time, and Jessica Parker and her friends going shopping.
Let's just hope that Fox won't be the ones picking this up and putting a huge stamp over the third film with a "We Want Money!"
